Event organiser
Marrugeku, presented by Sydney Festival (Blak Out / Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels)
About this event
Ngurragabu is the world premiere of a new dance theatre work from Marrugeku, choreographed by Dalisa Pigram and directed by Rachael Swain. Developed in dialogue with Yawuru and Bardi custodians, it imagines a future of great middens and drowned Country. An ensemble of First Nations and settler-diasporic performers from Australia, South East Asia and Melanesia moves through Abdul-Rahman Abdullah's petrified mangrove forest set, with techno-futurist music and projections. The season runs at Carriageworks as part of Sydney Festival's First Nations-led Blak Out program.
