About this event
DanceRites is Australia's only national First Nations dance competition, returning to the Sydney Opera House Forecourt for its ninth edition. All groups take part in the Cultural Dance and Song Cycle category, sharing local storytelling and language, with the option to also showcase their distinct style in the Wild Card category. The event includes a Welcome to Country and Ceremony, heats, finals and special guest performances over the two days.
Good to know
This event is Auslan interpreted with reserved seating available for best view; no booking required. Bags larger than an A4 piece of paper must be checked at the Cloak Room, and security bag checks take place under the Monumental Stairs. Patrons are welcome to bring their own water bottle; refreshments are available for purchase, and a credit or debit card is recommended for contactless payment. Children aged 15 years and under must be accompanied at all times.
