For four nights, Elizabeth Quay will become a giant open-air canvas as a towering water screen rises from the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) for The Story of Kooyar. This immersive nighttime experience brings a Noongar story to life through animation, light and an original soundscape. Kooyar journeys through the six Noongar seasons as black cockatoos sweep across the water, waterways flow and wildflowers burst into bloom. The story has been carried across generations by Whadjuk Noongar storyteller and cultural consultant Rose Walley and brought into contemporary form through the work of Whadjuk Noongar artist Biara Martin. The approximately 20-minute experience runs continuously between 7pm and 10pm. The evening also includes roving Karak puppets and live performances by Indigenous dance group Corroboree For Life.

Dedicated accessible viewing area. Auslan interpretation is available on Sunday 27 September from 7pm to 9pm. Bright light projections, flashing lights and immersive audiovisual elements are used. Elizabeth Quay is accessible by train, bus and Transperth ferry. This is an all-weather event. No booking or payment is required.
