Kalyagul: Connections to Menang Country
Event organiser
Western Australian Museum and Deakin University, with members of the Menang Noongar community
About this event
An exhibition celebrating Menang people's connections to the land, sea and skies of Albany, and their role in shaping how the region's natural world was explored and understood. In the 1840s Menang people shared their kaartdijin (knowledge) with visiting researchers, informing scientific paintings, portraits and collections. For the first time this material returns home to Albany, alongside new collaborative knowledge sharing with the Menang Noongar community. Presented by the Western Australian Museum and Deakin University.
