Koori Mail Indigenous Art Award 2026

About this event

The Koori Mail Indigenous Art Award 2026 is a national, non-acquisitive award open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists of any career stage working in any medium, including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, moving image and fibre art. First launched at Lismore Regional Gallery in 2021 in partnership with the Koori Mail Newspaper, the award celebrates the innovation and vibrancy of contemporary Indigenous art across Australia and aims to connect artists with arts organisations while discovering new talent. For 2026 a new Youth Award category (18–25 years) will be introduced, and guest judge Dr Kimberley Moulton, a Yorta Yorta curator and writer, will select the shortlisted finalists. The shortlisted finalist artworks will be presented in an exhibition at Lismore Regional Gallery, opening with a celebration event.
