GATHAA: Healing with Country. GATHAA First Nations Markets is bringing Healing with Country to Pomona, with First Nations makers and creators, bushfoodies, cultural knowledge holders and workshop facilitators. Come along to support First Nations business, learn something new and enjoy a morning of culture, creativity, food and community to feed your soul and spirit in the beautiful Noosa hinterland. What's on: First Nations makers stalls — a curated line-up of First Nations creatives showcasing handmade art, textiles, jewellery, bush botanicals, native spices, fashion, ceramics, homewares and one-of-a-kind pieces. Meet the makers and hear the stories behind their work. Medicinal Plants — Culture, Food and Healing with Aunty Rosie, a Gamilaraay Yinarr and cultural knowledge holder, exploring the relationships between native plants, food, Country and wellbeing, including Gumby Gumby, Eurah and Gunalay native grain and the traditional practices of gathering, preparing and grinding grain to make bread. Native superfood cooking demonstration with First Nations chef and Pomona local Aunty Dale Chapman, who prepares a native superfood Buddha bowl infused with native herbs and spices, with My Dilly Bag spices, teas and native pantry staples to sample and shop. Get Your Didge On — Fullas' Didge Circle, a welcoming space for boys, teenagers and men of all ages to connect through the sound and vibration of the didgeridoo, whether picking one up for the first time or already playing. Jarjums Creative Space — a free, dedicated kids area with nature-based craft, storytelling and hands-on cultural activities with caring facilitators. Live music, local eats and market vibes — grab a coffee, enjoy something delicious and soak up the Pomona atmosphere. GATHAA First Nations Markets is supported by Sunshine Coast Council.
Good to know
Free entry, family friendly, everyone welcome — no ticket or booking is required. Held at Pomona & District Community House with indoor and outdoor stalls, a free Jarjums Creative Space for children, live music, coffee and local food on site.
