National Indigenous Juvenile Justice Conference
Event organiser
About this event
The National Indigenous Juvenile Justice Conference brings together justice, health, education and community sector professionals to address the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the justice system. Held on the Gold Coast, the conference features Elders, youth advocates, policymakers, researchers and service providers sharing traditional knowledge and trauma-informed, prevention-focused strategies for healing, empowerment and systemic reform. This year's theme, 'Healing, Empowerment, and Reform: Culturally Grounded Solutions for First Nations Youth in Juvenile Justice', highlights culturally informed, community-driven approaches to break the cycle of incarceration. The conference aims to foster dialogue between government, service providers and First Nations communities to reduce youth incarceration and build stronger, safer futures for Indigenous youth.
Good to know
Program includes an optional pre-conference masterclass and workshop, morning and afternoon tea, lunch breaks with Elders and Youth sharing tables, and an evening networking dinner cruise aboard the Spirit of Elston (Seaworld Cruises).
