About this event
The First Nations Music Industry Review is a First Nations-led national review of the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in the Australian contemporary music industry. This community workshop is a facilitated, yarning-style session. Participants are invited to share what is working, what is not, and what needs to change across cultural safety, representation, pay and conditions, career pathways, and health and wellbeing. What comes out of the room shapes the recommendations that go to industry, funding bodies and government. The session is open to First Nations artists, musicians, managers, crew, producers, venue and festival workers, broadcasters, students, and anyone else working in or around music. Yarning is facilitated in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed way, and what is shared is treated confidentially. Delivered by Support Act with support from Sound NSW, Creative Workplaces, Creative Victoria, Music Australia and the Tony Foundation. This session runs online over Microsoft Teams. The joining link is emailed to registered participants before the workshop.
