About this event
Support Act is undertaking a national review, led by First Nations people, to better understand the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples working across Australia's contemporary music industry. This workshop is an opportunity to share your experiences, connect with other First Nations people working in music, and contribute to a national evidence base that will help shape future industry change. Whether you're an artist, performer, producer, manager, crew member, broadcaster, promoter, venue worker or working behind the scenes, your voice matters. What to expect: a facilitated yarning-style workshop where participants talk about what it's like to work in Australia's contemporary music industry, what's working well, the challenges people experience, and ideas for creating a stronger, more culturally responsive and sustainable music ecosystem. You don't need to prepare anything beforehand, and there are no right or wrong answers. Who should attend: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who currently work in Australia's contemporary music industry, have previously worked in the industry, or are looking to build a career in music. You don't need to work in music full-time, and people at every stage of their journey are welcome. The review is delivered by a First Nations-led team using a culturally responsive and trauma-informed approach. Participation is voluntary, you choose what you share, and you're welcome to take a break or step away at any time. Individual responses remain confidential, and no one is identified in the final report without their permission. The First Nations Music Industry Review is funded with support from Sound NSW, Creative Workplaces (Australian Government), Creative Victoria, Music Australia and the Tony Foundation.
