The Cassino Art Gallery ‘Celebrating NAIDOC’ exhibition is now open. The exhibition features works by internationally acclaimed Yuin artist Lloyd Gawura Hornsby from Glenn Innes. Lloyd is a Koori artist and descendant of the Yuin People of New South Wales. Lloyd’s art combines traditional Aboriginal techniques with a deeply personal journey of cultural identity, storytelling and discovery. Noel is renowned as a talented artist and for his work with First Nations’ students teaching Language, Dance and Culture. Noel has a number of paintings most of which are for sale. His daughter, Tyra is exhibiting turtle shells, an emu egg, earrings and paintings. All for sale. Noel Caldwell (Uncle Charlie) Galibal Elder Casino, NSW, known traditionally as Djanangmum, sits squarely on Galibal country within the broader Bundjalung Nation. This culturally significant region served as a crucial meeting place for local clans to gather, trade, and perform ceremonies. (Richmond Valley Council). The Galibal (or Gullibul) people are one of the fourteen distinct dialect and community groups comprising the Bundjalung Nation.
