About this event
UMI Arts presents the 19th annual Big Talk One Fire Festival. Big talk means real talking and real listening; one fire means coming together in the spirit of community. The festival brings together a community of First Nations artists, creators, performers, cultural practitioners and leaders to celebrate the culture, arts and music of the First Nations cultures that have been surviving and thriving for thousands of years in Far North Queensland. Big Talk One Fire 2026 features traditional and contemporary dance performances from across FNQ, a First Nations art market packed with art, crafts and giftware, culture, craft and dance workshops, fun kids activities and local favourite food vans, all at Munro Martin Park in Gimuy/Cairns. Big Talk One Fire is a free, family friendly and inclusive event — everyone is welcome. Bring a blanket and your dancing feet and come and join us around the fire. Big Talk One Fire Festival 2026 is proudly supported by the Queensland Government.
Good to know
A free, family friendly and inclusive outdoor festival in Munro Martin Parklands. Gates open at 3pm and no ticket is required. Bring a blanket to sit on. Food vans, kids activities and workshops run on site. UMI Arts publishes the 3pm gate opening but does not publish a finish time — the 9pm finish comes from the listing supplied to Blak Nation and should be confirmed with UMI Arts before it is promoted. Volunteers are welcome and can register through the UMI Arts website.
