About this event
Join an Aboriginal Discovery guide on the Sandstone Caves walking track in Pilliga Nature Reserve, on Gamilaraay Country, for a two-hour cultural tour. The sandstone here holds grinding grooves, ochre marks and stencil art left by thousands of generations of people. Your guide reads the rock, the water and the surrounding forest, and shares how this place was used and cared for and why it is still significant today. The tour follows a 1.8km return walking track. Meet at the Sandstone Caves carpark.
Good to know
Medium grade, 1.8km return on an unsealed walking track. No wheelchair access. Sturdy closed-in shoes, drinking water, a hat and sun protection are essential. Check the NPWS park alerts for Pilliga Nature Reserve before travelling.
