Free Aboriginal Family History Information Session
Event organiser
About this event
Aboriginal History WA (AHWA) is hosting a free information session to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people begin their family history journey. The session introduces AHWA's free family history research service and the range of resources available through AHWA and the State Library of Western Australia, including personal and family records, mission and station files, and other government documents from before 1972. Attendees will also be introduced to the State Library's Storylines archive, which connects Aboriginal people to a rich collection of heritage materials including photographs, oral histories, documents, audio recordings and film. The session helps participants learn how to access historical records to trace kinship and connections.
Good to know
This session is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (Mob only). Non-Indigenous people are welcome to call or email to learn more about AHWA services, but will not be accepted as observers of this session.
