About this event
A two-hour Aboriginal cultural immersion on Dharawal Country at Killalea Regional Park, hosted by Gumaraa. The experience opens with a Welcome and Acknowledgement of Country, a traditional smoking ceremony and the application of ochre. From there, guides share traditional dance, Dreaming stories of how this Country was made, and hands-on boomerang and spear throwing. A walk through the park looks at the native plants used for food, medicine and tools and how that knowledge continues to be passed down. Killalea is known as Arrijong to the Wodi Wodi people, the Traditional Custodians of this Country.
Good to know
Killalea Regional Park is accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and prams, though surfaces are grassy or gravel and uneven in places. Suitable for all ages. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat and comfortable walking shoes.
