Community-led governance for precision medicine: bringing Indigenous methods into deliberative consensus building Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are not well represented in genomic datasets, limiting their access to precision medicine. Inclusion requires community trust that their data will be used in ways they approve of and will benefit from. Building trustworthy governance for Indigenous genomic data requires community leadership that goes beyond traditional consultation methods. In this talk, we will share our experiences combining Indigenous research methods with deliberative methods for consensus building, and highlight the implications for genomic data governance more broadly.
